Why do I need this extra insurance?
Personal Accident insurance is relevant for motorists. According to the Royal Society
for the Prevention of Accidents, over 258,400 people were injured on UK roads during
2006 with 31,845 of these accidents resulting in serious injuries.
If an injury was serious, the impact on your finances could be significant. Personal
Accident cover gives you up to £125,000 if you are permanently disabled in
a covered accident. This single cash sum could help to pay off outstanding debts
or you may need to make adaptations to your car or home to make life easier. It's
up to you how you use the cash.
Does my car insurance policy include Personal Accident cover?
At Direct Insurance we are committed to protecting you as well as your car. Not
only does every new car policy automatically include cover of up to £20 million
for damage or loss to any third parties you are legally liable for - we also include
one year's FREE Personal Accident cover. This is worth up to £10,000 in the
event of permanent disability resulting from an accident and up to £5,000
in the event of accidental death.
What if I want more than £10,000 worth of cover?
Although up to £10,000 of cover is a useful benefit, you may want a higher
level of protection. At Direct Insurance, we make it easy and affordable for you
to increase your level of cover.
All of these extra benefits are included for £2.99 per month (less
than 10p per day.)
- Up to £125,000 for Permanent Disability
- Up to £25,000 in the case of loss of sight in one eye
- Up to £5,000 for loss of use of your shoulder, knee, ankle or wrist
- £25,000 in the event of an accidental death (this is paid to your estate)

As a special feature of our Drivers Personal Accident Plan, the benefits payable
will double automatically if you are injured in a covered road traffic accident.
This means up to 250,000 for permanent disability and up to 50,000 in the case of
accidental death.
